PERAN PSTI SUMBAWA DALAM PERKEMBANGAN SEPAK TAKRAW DI KABUPATEN SUMBAWA

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of the Indonesian Sepak Takraw Association (PSTI) Sumbawa Besar in promoting the development of sepak takraw in Sumbawa Regency. Sepak takraw is one of the traditional sports that has great potential to develop at both the local and national levels. Thru a qualitative descriptive approach, this research identifies various strategies and programs implemented by PSTI, including early-age athlete training, the organization of local competitions, and collaboration with schools and government institutions. The research results show that PSTI Sumbawa Besar plays a central role in athlete development, sports infrastructure development, and increasing public interest in sepak takraw. However, there are still several challenges such as limited funding and infrastructure that need to be addressed to support more optimal development. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of synergy between PSTI, local government, and the sports community to create a sustainable sepak takraw ecosystem in Sumbawa Regency.
